The Grains Our
Ancestors Carried
Turkey Red wheat and Rye, grown regeneratively in Washington's Palouse. Their stories run back through the German colonies of Russia, and we're honoring that history with the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia (AHSGR).

Germans from Russia settled in the Russian Empire beginning in the 1700s, farming grain on the steppe.
Many of their descendants brought those traditions, and those grains, to the American and Canadian plains and the Pacific Northwest.
AHSGR exists to discover, collect, preserve, and share that history and genealogy. We're proud to stand alongside them.
Turkey Red Wheat
Robust Flavor Rooted in Heritage
Brought to America by Mennonite farmers in the 1870s, Turkey Red is a richly flavored hard red wheat with a deep color and full-bodied taste. It carries the story of immigrants from the Russian Empire who brought their seed with them.
Flavor Deep, full-bodied, slightly nutty
Best for Artisan bread, sourdough, hearty baking
Rye
The everyday bread grain
Rye was a staple of daily bread across Eastern Europe, and it belongs on any German Russian table. Our supply is still small, and we're scaling it up each year.
Flavor Earthy, tangy, rich
Best for Dark breads, rolls, crackers
